Bayer RAW vs. Apple ProRAW: The Pro Choice

As an iPhone photographer, you have two main options for high-quality capture: Apple ProRAW and Bayer RAW. While ProRAW is convenient, Bayer RAW is the true "negative" of your sensor.

What is Bayer RAW?

Bayer RAW is the unprocessed data directly from the camera sensor. Unlike ProRAW, which includes Apple's computational processing (noise reduction, sharpening, and tone mapping), Bayer RAW gives you 100% control over the image.

Why Choose Bayer RAW for Iris Pro?

  1. No Forced Noise Reduction: Apple's ProRAW often applies aggressive noise reduction that can "smear" fine details. Bayer RAW preserves every pixel's grain.
  2. True Dynamic Range: Recover highlights and shadows that computational photography might pre-process out of the image.
  3. Pure Color Data: ProRAW is a 12-bit or 10-bit "demosaiced" file. Bayer RAW is the raw sensor data before the colors are even calculated.

With Iris Pro, we give you the keys to the sensor. No algorithms, just pure photography.

Iris Pro is coming soon.
